Just went into my bank to check my Betfair withdrawal had arrived, to find a very different description.....

No longer says Betfair!
Now says Power Leisure Book

I don't like this......it's hard enough telling the banks you're a trader as it is, and not a gambler
This entry onto my bank statements looks bad

I noticed a Power Leisure Book anti-money laundering check on my credit file when I was given a new account last year, and to be honest, with the word Paddy missing, it took me a while to figure out who they were. I'm sure many people have never heard of Betfair, but I would have thought if they were in any doubt, the word 'bet' would destroy any secrecy. :)

It would arrive as The Sporting Exchange but haven't checked recently. I tend to use cards to withdraw now.

Oh that's interesting.

Are you suggesting they've ran an anti-money laundering check on me?

I would think that would only happen if you deposited.

That might be the issue then, Peter

I had money tied up in the French Open outright, so I deposited £1000 and then withdrew £2300 3 hours later

Agreed, I recall some years ago being turned down for an overdraft. I was on the phone to the bank at the time and the operator hinted that Betfair transactions on the account may have had something to do with the refusal.

My anti-money laundering check was due to being issued a new account. I think it would be the same if you opened a PayPal or any e-wallet. I would have thought the closed-loop policy should be sufficient to stop money laundering. You can only withdraw what you've won.

If you click thorough you get a bonus on your withdrawal.

A neat way to withdraw your money without it hitting your bank account!

I just tested the prizeout. I mean you get a bonus on it!

Got the Mrs a £50 Sainsbury card and got a 2.25% bonus added to it.

Unfortunate. I've just made my end-of-month withdrawal. 2.25% is pretty generous. I wonder where that money's coming from - it's not Betfair generosity is it?
