Just went into my bank to check my Betfair withdrawal had arrived, to find a very different description.....
No longer says Betfair!
Now says Power Leisure Book
I don't like this......it's hard enough telling the banks you're a trader as it is, and not a gambler
This entry onto my bank statements looks bad
Power Leisure Book
I noticed a Power Leisure Book anti-money laundering check on my credit file when I was given a new account last year, and to be honest, with the word Paddy missing, it took me a while to figure out who they were. I'm sure many people have never heard of Betfair, but I would have thought if they were in any doubt, the word 'bet' would destroy any secrecy.LeTiss wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 12:23 pmJust went into my bank to check my Betfair withdrawal had arrived, to find a very different description.....

Agreed, I recall some years ago being turned down for an overdraft. I was on the phone to the bank at the time and the operator hinted that Betfair transactions on the account may have had something to do with the refusal.Derek27 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 12:55 pmI noticed a Power Leisure Book anti-money laundering check on my credit file when I was given a new account last year, and to be honest, with the word Paddy missing, it took me a while to figure out who they were. My anti-money laundering check was due to being issued a new account. I think it would be the same if you opened a PayPal or any e-wallet. I would have thought the closed-loop policy should be sufficient to stop money laundering. You can only withdraw what you've won.

Unfortunate. I've just made my end-of-month withdrawal. 2.25% is pretty generous. I wonder where that money's coming from - it's not Betfair generosity is it?
