Watching the markets in betfair it seems there are bots that try to manipulate the markets to shift the odds. For example they'll be 1k laying at 1.3, 1.31, 1.32 until the price moves then the money dissappear. It seems the purpose is to trick weight of money bots to shift the odds a few ticks. Then cash in. Rinse and repeat.

Many different bots active in the markets... market making bots, scalping bots, value betting bots, hidden iceberg orders at key pricepoints etc.
Spoofing is a thing too, offering bets with the intention of cancelling them before they're matched, despite these sorta practices being illegal in financial markets.
