How would you explain the difference between a VPN and VPS to a layman trading IR horses?

Simply that, what's the best way to explain or conceptualise the difference?
A VPS is computer running in a high speed data centre that you use just like a normal computer.
A VPN hides your activity by sending your internet traffic through one or more servers before reaching the website. But you are still using your local computer.

The layman's version is as above but a little more info (as I've got more time on my hands
)... VPS is a computer, often remotely located or it might just be at home. The benefits are sometimes a higher speed, but mainly 247 operation and accessibility from various places or by multiple people at the same time. A VPS will also run a server version of Windows which is more manageable, pared down, and faster but less user friendly. More usually people rent a VPS rather than having their own so that someone else keeps it up 247 and pays the electric bill
You might also choose to have it located near the Betfair data centre to try and get a speed advantage when using automation.
VPN is a network, a way to route the Internet traffic from your PC/phone or VPS to disguise or spoof your location or identity. Perhaps to get geoblocked content.
