I relied on Timeform as a punter and always had a lot of respect for some of the guys who work there. Must be a difficult and high-pressure job crunching the numbers and compiling all the speed and race ratings in time for publication. But I was pretty shocked when I saw an ad for a trainee reporter or race reader, with a degree, salary was £11K! Even though it was 10 years ago that's miserly!

$17 per hour ????????

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median weekly income (including overtime, commission and tips) for full-time workers (excluding those who are self-employed) in America was $1,041 as of the second quarter of 2022. If that rate persists for the entire year, that would equal $54,132 a year.7 Dec 2022

The thing that strikes me about a lot of jobs is they can't pay that well if there is no salary on the offer.

I stumbled across Otpa this evening and their lists: -

Couldn't see a salary on any of them. That screams, we will pay what we think we can get away with.

Its within companies too... My wife's company stopped publishing the salary bands for different jobs / grades as the staff found it "too confusing"...

==> we pay a market rate, no need to worry your pretty little heads about anything else

The fact that they have started giving staff free lunches to help with the cost of living crisis says it all though..
