Is it possible to create a rule that will lay a selection at BSP for Horse Racing ?

Yes, just use a 'Place lay SP bet rule'
Applied to Guardian nominated selection 1

Is the minimum liability for lay BSP applied the same as it is on the Betfair site ?

Yes, anything below £10 liability and they will reject the order

Is BSP Rank the same as order of favouritism?
I want this rule to only fire if the selection bsp rank is greater than =1 , not sure which condition to use..

BSP rank isn't known until BSP is settled so you can only use it in-running. You'll have to use >1 in order of favouritism and do it as late as possible. It's one of those hindsighting things that stops you from using bsp rank when you do your analysis, by the time you know it its gone.

Fair enough
And, correct me if wrong, BSP itself is a retrospective value, but you can place bets on it pre-off ?

You can place a BSP bet (with a limit price) or TakeSp on any unmatched bet.

Sorry if I am being stupid here, but when is the BSP actually calculated, at the off, or after the race ?

At the off. Its usually known a second or two after the pre-play phase of the market ends.

This is quite useful. It covers reductions too.

https://promo.betfair.com/betfairsp/FAQ ... 20Price%20('SP',once%20it%20has%20been%20placed.

If I select a Place Lay SP bet, and I want the rule to just lay £10 with no fixed liabilty, what are the parameters for that?

I don't think you can, there's a slim chance BSP might be 1000 and they protect you from that risk by altering the stake to keep the same liability. You might have to set a liabilty that's £10 * the current price and it will stake a tenner?
