Hi
I've just spent about an hour confused because I was watching this video https://www.betangel.tv/trading-horses- ... r-pre-off/ thinking that somehow a profit was being made from backing at low odds and laying at higher odds, only then to realise that the screen was set in 'reverse' mode.

Reverse mode is just confusing me, can anyone please explain the advantage of using it?

Thank you.

When you reverse the book, you are offering bets to the market for others to take. So this is net positive, if you take from others it's net negative in the long term. You also have the ability to scratch trades that have gone wrong if you offer.

In my head there is no advantage, you can still offer without reversing the ladder. It just needlessly complicates things for me.

It can get confusing, but the basic premise is 'buy low, sell high.' If you can remember that then you're half way there.

Just customize it however feels most natural, can tweak just about everything

I always had the lay side on the right from day 1, it's all just habits

Totally agree, and it's not just in your head, there's nothing you can do with one style that you can't do with the other. It's just cosmetic.

When reversed you click on the money outstanding to place a bet, so it's a purely a personal preference.

:) I think this is why there's often confusion around this. When it's reversed you click on the money to make an offer that might become a bet, on the regular ladder you click on the money to place a bet. For a lot of people clicking on something means take it, aka 'Buy it now' rather than make it available to be bought by someone else.

It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other though, are you adding or removing.

I still have to think twice before switching it on.

This ditty might help (Scots) users.

Normal view gets matched the noo.
Use 'reversed' to join the queue.

I found that an issue for me in the early days, until I realised "reverse" made things more logical for me.

Always felt logical and intuitive to place bets on existing stacks of money to join the queue. And to counter the money stack on opposite end if you want to match that money.

BA lacking these features when I needed new software made me opt against it, but didn't go with the rival software either and went with something else that was more customizable.

It both does and doesn't matter though, feeling comfortable with your ladder settings makes things that much easier to execute.
