When you begin to work out what's involved from conception to implementation of a bot into a live market, like design, data collection, modelling, back testing, a persons time and effort etc, then of course there's the constant re-evaluation process once you've actuality found a profitable automated edge, I reckon an offer of 4k is pitiful tbh
I doubt you'll get any takers. But lets say you did, what happens when the said bot that's worked for 2 years stops being profitable in 2 weeks time? What will you do because you won't get your money back and the seller will be on the beach smoking your £20 notes.
If your that serious invest the 4k in yourself and get learning.

We've been down this road before, haven't we?
For £4K, don't you have any criteria that you expect to be met? How much do you expect it to make a month and to what bankroll?
Would you be willing to pay £4K for a bot that makes £100 a month, taking you over 3 years just to get your investment back?

Bots need maintenance and without the knowledge it took to create it in the first place, you wouldn't know how to adjust it. Its performance would fade and you'd soon just have a dead bot on your hands.

I seem to recall someone wanting to buy a profitable bot and pay for it out of the profits they made from the bot, and then arguing about what a good deal it was for the person providing the bot.... Couldn't make it up...

Of all the PM's I get along these lines the stand out one I still remember is from a few years ago now in which some messaged me and asked me to 'create them a profitable bot but not to waste their time sending anything that will not make them at least £100 per week'
Oh and they wanted it for free!
I might not have minded but they didn't even say please or thank you anywhere in their message

Well thats the thing really i cant make a bot work, so i dont know the potential. Id be happy to get my money back in 12 months, and try to make my own based of the working bot. i have an idea how to make them, but obviously not enough of an idea
But if 4k is way off then i guess you guys make alot more..
Any courses you think are worth buying instead?
cheers

Don't buy any trading, look to educational/learning and start with research.fatboyeno wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 1:39 pm"When you begin to work out what's involved from conception to implementation of a bot into a live market, like design, data collection, modelling, back testing, a persons time and effort etc, then of course there's the constant re-evaluation process once you've actuality found a profitable automated edge, I reckon an offer of 4k is pitiful tbh

Research what sport you want to automate, what's involved and how much time you plan to dedicate a week. Identify what you do and don't now. Build it up piece by piece by piece, week by week.
So for example your going to trade the dogs put a plan together, documenting your progress.
Software 3 hours a week
Bet Angel - Read manual, open BA in practice mode and learn with manual, make notes, build basic bot for training only
Data 3 hours a week
How am I going to collect data
What data am I going to collect
How am I going to store it
How am I going to use the data
Udemy/Online 3 Hours a week
Learning
There's course on data/statistics/probability etc £15.99 for example

Bots aren't so much about great ideas, it's about figuring out which situations do and don't suit what you're doing. And when you've got a handle on that, making variations with small changes that now work on the markets it's didn't previously work on.
But re complexity/effort etc. Trading isnt much different to any job out there, you aren't going to pull in a decent wage without at least a couple of years of study and experience probably even more. I'm 100% automated and do reasonably OK, but I spent the best part of two years full-time getting to that point. The investment in lost opportunity, online programming courses, maths courses (calculus), stats analysis learning, travel/hotels, servers etc was significant. But it also needed the obsession to live and breathe the subject every waking hour and when you're not doing you're thinking.
If you wanted to be an architect you'd have to do more than buy a pencil.
But ignoring the demoralising stuff.... Automation is a massive wide ranging topic from the quite simple to people using AI, and from football to in-running horses. Decide exactly what sport to look at, what aspect of those markets seem interesting and just focus on one very small area. If not you just to a lot of things badly rather than one well. Break the project down into as many small steps as possible and just tick them off. A journey of 1000 miles is taken one step at a time.
If I had to suggest one area with plenty of scope, quite interesting, and one that's well served by BA it would be using TPD on in-running horses. Maybe have several reads thought the TPD info in the BA user guide and begin to devise a plan, and think how you'd go about finding out what bets (automated decisions) were profitable or not. Then plan what you'd need to do on a daily or weekly basis to get there. I'd budget for about 40hrs for that if I was giving the job to a project manager, the time scale for the project itself is a product of that first phase, but finger in the air, about 6 months, about 1000 man hours. That's pretty good for something that might earn you about 25grand a year. Then you work on the next one.
Just my two penneth, everyone has their own story and so will you.

When you quote somebody use the quote button. That way, we won't all have to figure out you're quoting Shaun, when Shaun has stopped talking and when you've started.fatboyeno wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 1:39 pm"When you begin to work out what's involved from conception to implementation of a bot into a live market, like design, data collection, modelling, back testing, a persons time and effort etc, then of course there's the constant re-evaluation process once you've actuality found a profitable automated edge, I reckon an offer of 4k is pitiful tbh

You haven't actually said, for example, I have a bank of £10K, it should make at least 40% in a year or I have a bank of £2K, it should make at least 200% in a year!
Most people who can't make a bot pay look for another way to make a living. Using bots appears to many as easy money while you sit in a beer garden and enjoy the sunshine but many botters have to put in a lot of hours in data mining, analysis and maintenance, not to mention the hard work envolved in developing them. If you struggle to build successful bots, as most of us do, you would struggle to maintain one and keep it profitable. For the reasons given in this thread, nobody's likely to give away their profits and hard work, even for £4K, unless they're disappointed with their effort and feel the only way they're gonna make anything with it is to take somebody for a ride.
I'm sure nobody on this forum would do that, but you will eventually run into someone if you keep looking.
