How to get satellite frequencies, anyone?

Hi all,

I came across a blog talking about getting almost any sat chanel in the world, pretty much, by pointing a dish at the relevant satellite/frequency, and did some Googling and found a few sites like this with all kinds of sports channels ;

I haven't got a clue where to start with something like this, but hoping someone here can school me in the art of channel stealing lol
I haven't got Sky or a dish for that matter, but could I pick up these channels using a portable caravan dish kit setup? To try things out... And how do you tune into these frequencies or know exactly where to point the dish?

When I was kid we use to have dish. All we have to do move in certain direction to get channels or clear pictures. If you notice sky dish all of them face same in same street unless tree or sometime blocking it. Maybe this following vidoe help you more.

I had my own business for 20 years specialising in selling and installing satellite equipment for European TV. It's changed quite a bit since the hay days when every channel was pretty much hackable with pirate cards and viewing keys, but you can still pick up some free to air channels and feeds. But there are many satellites up there which cover Europe so if you wanted to pick up more than a few you would need a motorised setup.

Website called lyngsat has every channels and freqs listed and tells you if they are free to air or encrypted.
Some encryptions are still hackable.

If you intend to track frequencies for feeds, remember the bigger the dish, the better chance you have (but will get heat from neighbours/councils).

Thhink its generally a game which has passed its sell by date. To invest maybe 1k-1500 to get started might not be +EV.

yeah a 1 metre dish will pick up most of what you would need, anything bigger than 1 metre then officially you need planning permission.....

Its probably not worth the hassle anymore as there will be no where near the amount of free channels you could obtain now as you could back in the day.
Even sports feeds uplinks change to different satellites and freqs regulary, so even if you found a good free working feed, the next day/week its probably been moved.

IPTV has taken over the foreign satellite market now, but thats no good for us due to the streaming delays.

Depends how serisley you take it I suppose I costed it all up a couple fo years ago came to about 1k installed which was for all the free stuff which was really no good to me the bit I was after and struggling with was getting the BISS Keys to get the encrypted raw live football feeds.

I gave it a miss in the end, and manage OK with slightly delayed pictures (12s is my absolute max I'll trade with) which cost next to nothing but it's something I may look at again in the future ableit over the web.

Plenty of big traders on diff sports still very much depend on raw feeds etc

Pre-trading many years ago I messed around with a bigass dish, to watch EPL in HD for peanuts via cardsharing on my SkyStar2, was totally worth just for this

A lot depends where u live - thou there are pros and cons with that.

A dish in USA might have scarcity value, but the Bf markets are pathetic.

Dishes in Pak/India are 10 a penny - and they work extremely well with the limited tools they generally have.

Uk cannot get 100E, which carries a lot of the Asian net/volleyball/basketball/soccer - I have WhatsApp groups which generally still send over 100
msgs a day (a lot repeated) notifying of feeds.

The actual monetary value of the feeds has diminished a huge amount. Only market makers now have an edge using them - unless maybe you are betting into bookies slow to close markets
