Check out the odds on the Russian league this morning...What's going on ?
Nalchik-Anzhi - the away team 4th from bottom priced at 1.2 to win at the team who's 6th in the league ?? I've layed Anzhi at 1.2 with a view to green up after 15 minutes if they don't score. Let's see what happens...
Likewise Zenit priced at 1.9 to win at home vs very modest team seems well out of place...

Can you think of any purely footballing reasons for the odds being so low?
If someone was fixing the match, you'd have thought they wouldn't have made it quite so obvious!

Well it looks like it's the last game of the season and the two away teams are trying to get points to avoid relegation...But still, the odds seem a bit skewed to me, no ? Almost like whoever goes down has already been decided...

I'm being cautious here...fix or not, it's true that both home teams don't have much to play for...
However if you look at the odds now, they've already moved quite a bit..
I've greened up on both matches, 5 ticks on Nalchik, and 14 ticks on Zenit...not bad.

Absolutely.
Unless a team has been deliberately playing badly all season, you wouldn't expect them to turn into football superstars just because they're playing a must-win game!
And you would expect the home team to play to the best of their ability - to do otherwise would be unprofessional and an insult to their fans.

I could say the same about Aston Villa vs Arsenal match yesterday. the odds suppose to be on 4.0 home team, 2.2 away team and 3.4 the draw but, minutes b4 kick off, large sums of money came in for Arsenal to win. the odds settled on kick off 5.3 home team , 1.9 away team and 3.6 the draw. 20 ticks away from the predicted odds, on such big market seemed a bit strange. I have watched the game the 1st 45 minutes, aston villa did everything they could to be down 0-2. have you guys noticed that too or your eyes concetrate only on foreign leagues?

It's possible that there's occasionally corruption in the Premier League. However, the fact that its the wealthiest league in the world means it's less likely to happen.
If you ask a multi-millionaire player to risk his career and his liberty in exchange for a brown envelope containing a few grand, he'll just laugh at you!
As for Aston Villa vs Arsenal, the market probably drew conclusions from the body language of the players. If a team appear not to be fired up before a match, chances are that they won't play inspired football during the match...

thats was my point. You have found an explanation to justify the premier league and why the odds moved to an other direction but, there are other wealthy leagues that have been accused of corruption from many of you without searching for an other explanation. the premier league is not the wealthiest league in the world but, defanately the one with the largest debt in the world.
Let's say that, on the last day of the season, Man United play Wigan at Old Trafford. United have already won the Premiership, but Wigan need a win to avoid relegation. I think eyebrows would be raised if the odds on a Wigan win were 1.2!
As for whether the Premiership is the richest league in the world, I accept that that's open to debate. That said, I bet our average player wages are the highest in the world, and no club in Europe can match Chelsea & City's buying power.

Chelsea and City are owned by multi-billionaires who aren't bothered about whether they make a profit.
If either of them really want a particular player, they can afford to outbid any team.
Put it this way. If Ferguson wanted to sell Rooney, and asked for £80 million, I don't think City would flinch.
