Shame about the 2pm Euro kick-offs next week buthappy to miss trading a few games, love the big race meetings and ITV Racing IMO is the best sports broadcast on tv, head and shoulders above everything else.

Made good money solely from automatic TPD trades at Royal Ascot last year. Will be interesting to see how the same principles perform a year on.

Big fields, high liquidity, and no drones make for perfect TPD trading conditions.

Out of interest why no drones at Royal Ascot, what stops people flying them when they do at other tracks?

Security is exceptionally high at Royal Ascot. So anybody flying a drone will get apprehended pretty quickly.

Civil Aviation can legally choose to set up no-fly zones for events where there is a gathering above a certain number of people. I'm guessing they are requested to do this for Royal Ascot due to security implications of Royal Family attendance.

Here's the one for this year's event. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/202 ... 179_en.pdf

NOTAMS are usually put in place for all major sporting events

They covered quite a wide area for Ascot this week untill 7pm 22nd June

Delighted for Billy Loughnane - he seems a great lad who always interviews very well.

Rubbish day for me today. Could find very little in the markets and TPD issues on the 1st and 3rd races didn't help. Onwards and upwards (hopefully) tomorrow.

RA 'only' matched £8.1m today, which was down 26% on last year. It felt like it, but Tuesdays often feel tough.

Contact:

On course internet was down for bookies for at least the first 2 races - so less was sent off-course.

A LOT of hedging now goes to Bf alternatives.

Bf volumes are only going to go one way - they have burnt too many bridge (IMHO)

IMO I could be wrong but just feels like people would rather bet on other sports and the overall interest in racing is getting less and less.

Also, trading seems to be a lot less popular than it once was, a few years ago every man and his dog wanted Caan's ebook and now I barely even hear from him.

Crazy how a selling race with an odds on shot 10 years ago got more money than some of the lesser RA races today.

When you factor in inflation, any declines measured are greater than they appear at first glance. Even static figures are declines in real terms. It's hard to see any cause for future optimism.
