Bet Angel Having Another Off-Day?

Just asking as a frustrated pre-off horse racing bettor....

Did anyone else experience a problem with Bet Angel today? I use the 'Guardian' feature daily to place bets just before the off, while I'm out and about. Mostly the service is good, but today (after 3 poor days of bad results), I had a much better run, only to find a number of races were recorded as 'suspended' 10-15 minutes before the off and never re-opened according to my Bet Angel log. No bets were then placed - because the market was allegedly 'suspended'.

I missed out on literally £100's of profit because Bet Angel wrongly suspended a batch of races - 4.45 York, 5.10 Curragh, 5.15 Windsor, 5.20 York, 5.40 Curragh ten minutes before each start and never re-opened again.

In a market place that is harder than ever to win regularly, with plenty of losing days just part of it and loads of added costs (bet angel to name one, but also the lovely betfair premium charge), I really can't afford to lose out again due to software error.

I was planning on upgrading to the VPN, but maybe I need to look at some sort of Betfair bot instead. I can't see anything on the forum about this glitch, so I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this today?

Many thanks,

Michael

Betfair had a major outage yesterday, and it was widely discussed on the forum: -

Good luck finding another product that can operate when Betfair is down.

All you needed to do was log into the Betfair site. You'd see Betfair was down, not Bet Angel.

Thank you - I've spoken to support and they pointed me in the right direction.

For what it's worth I had some issues with bet angel several years ago, partly down to updated operating systems etc. I've been using professional for years now. I use it every day (but not the forum) for static bets, rather than live trading. I've always profited from understanding racing, rather than live trading, which seems a different skill to me (not necessarily easier or harder, just different).

I was dragged to a family event yesterday afternoon so didn't notice the issue until I came to 'tally up' at the end of the day and noticed a batch of my selections including several that won were missing from betfair history. When I checked the betfair mobile app for the bsp's during the day, it showed a full set of perfectly reasonable bsp's, so I had no reason to think it was a betfair issue (I keep thinking about moving to bsp, perhaps I should entertain it more seriously).

Clearly it was a betfair error and there was something on the forum about it, but having not really ever used the forum, I looked in the wrong place. After a few really tough days the last thing I needed was a technical glitch on a good day. Whilst I know it all levels out in the long run, that doesn't make it any less palatable.

Lesson learned. Thank you for your feedback.

The frustration is understandable, albeit misplaced initially. Depending on your strategies you may need to take potential outages and such into account when deploying them.

There are a few existing resources you may found helpful with that.

Bet Angel video about exchange outages : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cahTgPXtJQU

Dealing with Betfair outages : https://www.betfairtradingblog.com/betf ... age-crash/

Instant alerts of Betfair outages : https://www.betfairtradingblog.com/betf ... -api-down/

You can also use the search function here to find more tailor-made advice, many existing threads on the topic : viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21680
