Why does US racing always have a bigger gap between back and lay prices?

The sport of kings.

Total volume is much higher than greyhound racing, or some UK races, yet there always seems to be a bigger gap between back and lay prices?

It may if changed now but from what I remember the gaps close in the final 40 seconds.

But be careful trading them as start times can vary, sometimes they go off a few seconds early or one minute late.

Been messing around trading in-play today, been doing pre off US a while but always wondered about the gaps.

Did one race and gave up. Shite camera angles and too bunched up. Not to mention having to give the start time a ten minute window

I've tried to trade my local trackside a few times (Laurel Park, MD). Mixed results and mostly terrible liquidty. At most shitty tracks in the US horses are all off the bridle after 2 furlongs.

Only dog racing we have in the US is in West Virginia. Both attached to casinos. Both locations are fantastic. No one under 400LBs. All attached to oxygen tanks while smoking Malboro reds and crushing 40oz mountain dews.

I f**king love America.

In my biased opinion, theres no horse racing compared to the British over the jumps. US racing is just annoying garbage

I'm usually wound up before the race has even started (20 minutes late) 😅
