Not sure this is the correct forum to be asking but, worth a try.

I decided I needed more screen space and bought a Ultrawide 40" monitor and connected it to my 2013 iMac which runs Windows 10 via Bootcamp. Normally (past 5 years) I have run 2 x 24" monitors that worked fine.

My iMac has a max resolution of 2560 x 1440. Now I believe that an Ultrawide (to fill the screen unstretched) needs 3440x1440 .....writing this I see the answer is obvious but is there anybody out there who is already using a Ultrawide screen.

What resolution is your primary monitor in order to fill the ultrawide screen in full.

Below is picture of the best I can get it. I can fill the full screen but it is stretched and pointless. I've tried all the Windows display options, they dont work.

I might need a new computer and monitor but its not worth the expense. Thanks for reading.

Not an expert but Window 11 allows you to have multiple "desktops" across the screen - maybe a solution in there somewhere if you can upgrade to Win11.

You likely need a better graphics card in your computer. The better the card the more resolutions it can output.

I have a 49" ultrawide and it runs at 5120 x 1440.

James got in before me. A 2013 GPU won't have anything like the required output capabilities to run that thing full screen, and even if it did the refresh rates wouldn't be anywhere near 144hz.

I personally like the GE Force RTX cards, as the ray tracing is great for gaming. I imagine it would also work for trading, but research is needed before investing.

I'm running GeForce 2070 super with the Samsung G9 Odyssey 49" and working really well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Odysse ... B0866C4BM7

If I was in the market again now, I'd splash out for the newer and thinner OLED version though.

Thanks for all your replies.

I've swapped my cable over so I have a Mini Display Port to DP and I've got 75% of the screen active.
I have a full 8k cable being delivered on Christmas Eve and I have full confidence that the screen will work as intended. Without any stretched apps or browsers.

I will update over Crimbo. I'm convinced it's a cable issue and my iMac can pull it off.
