As a trader I believe that the one thing that I is holding me back from the 'next level' is paranoia - paranoia that I will be left exposed should I only be able to make the first half of my trade due to a computer crash or dropped Internet Connection. For this reason I enquire :
How difficult would it be to include a ' AUTO SP THE OFFSET " function ? Is it feasible ?
Worst case , in the case of a catatrophic technology failure, traders would be able to minimise losses with security of knowledge that their Offset SP bet will be matched.
Any thoughts BA, fellow traders ?

Auto SP
Hi Rg
Here's a potential solution..
I have a VPS that has a spreadsheet attached that automatically greens/reds up 4 sec before the start...
That way I know that if I loose connection to the VPS it will take care of things.
there is always the chance that the VPS will connection to Betfair, but unlikely...
The spreadsheet is posted on here in the spreadsheets section if you want to trial the VPS.
Regards
Peter

Thanks Peter for the offer. Would prefer to stay away from a VPS type configuration with a preference to keep all things simple - the old KISS method I suppose, but it might be something worth considering if it does as you say. Personally, I would be much more comfortable seeing the "Take SP" notation displayed on the BA screen. Maybe just something I have to get my head around.

Sorry gutuami, I think I do not follow sequence of events quite right - are you saying that you placed a Tale SP Bet and the function did not work? If so that's scary !gutuami wrote:today at one race there was a false start but betfair generated sp. The market reopened and the selection I was looking on was trading above SP. Just for experiment I placed a small back bet with Take SP lay closure. It did not work
