Hi,

I have a question for those who trade football before kick-off and would not mind to help me. ;)
Do you have any indicators of where the price is going to move?

I have tried scalping the match odds market, but just before kick-off it is not very stable so I ended up losing a tick. However, hours before kick-off the liquidity is not enough for deciding whether the market is stable or trending.

These are my problems, it would be great if you could help me, I am new to trading but I love football and I would love to trade it before kick-off and then watch the match of course. :D

Thanks!!

I take it that that you are not wanting to bet/trade in play and are just looking for pre-match safety? I think that you will need to do a bit of research on the teams that you are wanting to trade and check the odds comparison sites on the prices that are available as any discrepency between those could give you a couple of ticks. You may get a bigger "tick count" by letting the trade or part of it go in play and then trade out.

The problem with that is you can get caught on the wrong side of an early goal. It is important to look at how the odds move and why and also what what affects the odds i.e. goals or lack of and time. Have a dig through the post forum on the footie and check out the videos if you have not already this will give you a starting point.

Scalping pre-match football is very difficult Imo. The money can often jump right through your positions often leaving you "hoping" for a scratch. Its hard to find good a good spot in the que closer to kick off and there's a lot of waiting involved compared to racing markets.

There is however a decent enough trading range on most football matches with good liquidity at each end. The size of that range will depend on how even the teams are and can be affected by any team news(late Injurys to key players etc).

For example if we take these two upcoming matches.

2.72 Arsenal vs Chelsea 2.88

(current Bf Prices)

1.3 Man Utd vs Sunderland 14.5

I would predict a much bigger trading range on the Arsenal Chelsea tie as opinions of Chelsea's current form vs Arsenals poor home form and seeming inability to beat their Title rivals may create some decent swings.

Ive only really started studying these markets in depth recently and am by no means a pro. It Would be great to hear more from others on this type of trading as its rarley talked about on the forum compared to racing yet millions are matched each weekend.

Maybe there's little talk because it is so difficult. I can make a profit straight punting using statistics, but even with the help of Soccer Mystic can't find a profitable way to trade football, pre match.

There was talk on the forum a while back about a company that trades the football matches pre-off and make huge sums of money.

I haven't had much success with it myself, but if you can find a method that works consistently, I'd have thought it would be potentially highly lucrative, given the huge sums of money that are traded.

Some Betfair traders do very well on top horse races like the National, due to the high level of liquidity. A bog standard Premiership match can attract similar sums of money from punters! :)

try this csabz90.
celta vigo vs numancia.
back £8.15 celta vigo at 1.77 1.78 offset bet with greening offset ticks 4-5
lay £2.62 numancia at 5.7-5.8 offset ticks 2-3
lay £3.59 the draw at 3.7-3.75 offset ticks 3-4. Don`t forget to green up ( green or red)
you can try with pennys if you use the bookmaking and the dutching. I hope it will work for you. I am confident it will go that way but, bare in mind that 1 out 5 football match odds predictions go to the opposite way.
I bet andyf and his m8s will praying for me to be wrong so they can call me million names..

If you followed my selection you should now green Up for a safe profit. I am confident that the draw will hit at least once prekick off 3.95 but, If you had 2 out 3right, (back 1.78 lay 1.72)(lay5.7 back 6.2), and you have no loss on the draw, I would not be bothered to wait 2 more hours for that event to happened. I will move half of my green all on celta vigo to win, bare in mind I am not just a trader I am also a gambler so i would not advice you to do the same. just keep the full profit.

Well done enzabella!

Are you deserting us?
You said it was your last day here.

Anyway, to answer the original question, yes it's possible to make good money on football pre-match. However, you need patience, and you need to keep an eye on team sheets because this can cause rapid movements

It` s lovely to see nice comments sometimes. Andyf did not show up this time   . Bizarre.
I am moving to Vancouver soon for 3 months. I am working to a project related to sports odds for some investors. I will have no time to gamble but, hopefully my ex-boyfriend will carry on the business in my behalf. good luck.

Have a safe trip

Good luck with the Canadian project, but my experience of ex-girlfriends is that I wouldn't trust them with anything of mine. So, really good luck with your ex-boyfriend continuing the business
