Hey everyone,
I've been observing an interesting pattern in the World Club Cup over the last few days and wanted to share it with the community. It seems like the odds on European teams are consistently drifting (increasing) before kick-off.
I've been testing this out, and the screenshots I've attached show some promising results from the last few days. It's a simple observation, but potentially quite profitable while it lasts.
I don't have a definitive explanation for why this is happening. My initial thoughts are:
Perhaps the European teams were initially overrated in the market.
Maybe these teams aren't giving 100% effort in this particular competition, leading to less confidence from late bettors.
Or it could just be that the public is simply fancying teams from other continents more as the match approaches.
Regardless of the "why," the important thing is that this pattern seems to be present right now, and often, in trading, exploiting a pattern is more crucial than fully understanding its root cause – especially before it disappears.
Just wanted to throw this out there so maybe some of you can look into it and potentially exploit it too.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any thoughts or other observations on this trend?
Let's discuss!
New Pattern Spotted: European Teams Drifting in World Club Cup?

Interesting, I think Peter put out something similar recently observing this? The PSG result last night, and Real Madrid’s struggles against Al-Hilal (I don’t think Chelsea were particularly standout versus LAFC, either) perhaps implies some over-valuing.
I don’t think you can expect the Benfica odds to drift much today, though

At these low odds, even 1 tick doubles your riskjakedanielturner wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 10:23 amInteresting, I think Peter put out something similar recently observing this? Could it be the European teams are rotating their starting XI more? So the team news release is moving the price against them?
I'm sure that's not the reason. I've monitored all the matches for WCC and odds drift without such news.jamesedwards wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 1:44 pmCould it be the European teams are rotating their starting XI more? So the team news release is moving the price against them?

I'd be along a similar line of thinking, anyone that played at the Euro's last year hasn't had a proper break since 2023 summer. With this Mickey Mouse cashgrab by FIFA and the WC next year, the players from the big Euro nations are looking at summer 2027 before they have a proper break.

Surely with all their money they can work 2 weeks in Benidorm into their schedule!Dublin_Flyer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 5:56 pmI'd be along a similar line of thinking, anyone that played at the Euro's last year hasn't had a proper break since 2023 summer. Flamengo were the same price when they equalised in the 62nd minute as they were at SP.
I can think of several factors
-Brazil have just started their season so their players are match fit
-All seem to have a lot of fans present
-Very warm in the US currently, doesn’t help when you’re already knackered after a long season
-Flamengo and other South Americans are taking the tournament very seriously.
Play this match in Europe in February and you’re looking at a completely different result.
