I wondered whether anyone out there uses the insurance of a hedge when they trade football? I have been using soccer mystic to explore various options but I am a little disappointed with myself that I haven't come up with anything yet close to what I am looking for.
My first area to focus on is to trade the Under 2.5 market - so I am looking to find a suitable hedge; is anyone willing to point me in a good direction?
Hedging in football
If you back 0-0 then the price on that will come in and generate a profit. If a goal goes in you are stuffed on 0-0 but the price on U2.5 will shoot out if there is an early goal. If you vary stakes across the two markets then you can gain on one and cover on the other. If you are less confident at any point you can close out both for a profit. But it all comes down to when you expect the goal to be scored. There are many variations on the correct score market, match odds and over/unders.
A very popular strategy is Laying the draw. You could easily combine this with the +-2.5 goals market. According to soccerstats an average of 2.67 goals/match have been scored in the Premiership. The Man U vs Stoke game tonight was a very good example.
