Is it just me or can the Irish NEVER get a race off on time?!! Irritates the hell out of me because on AtTheAdverts we invariably miss the start of the following UK race!

How come the Irish races always have good fields but the UK is so thin on the ground?

At Southwell and Towcester there are only two races on both cards of 10 or more runners.

At Clonmel there are only two races below ten runners.

If they know that because of the large fields they struggle to get off on time, why not get them down to the start 5 minutes earlier?! Basic logic.

You still get plenty of very small fields in Ireland, it was only the other day we had a 2 runner Graded race if I remember correctly!

Also bear in mind the size of the horse population in both countries and the number of races in both countries and that will help explain it.

I've never been to Ireland, but I once went to the Isle of Man, and the people there were incredibly chilled out!

Maybe it's a small island mentality!

I think that I noticed on a recent TV show that residents of the Isle of Man don't pay income tax - that would probably help to relax you a bit!!
