I was at Betfair yesterday and one of the suggestions I made was that they improve security, I don't think just a password is enough TBH.

I posted a security issue on a thread from 2010

I noticed my account had been accessed from Isle of Wight, even though I hadn't been there for 8 years

I changed my password, but BF's attitude was a joke. I spoke to someone in customer services, but they couldn't give a rat's ass, he just told me to change my password and run a security scan

I am astonished at this and very concerned.
I use online banking and to log on I have a password, then have to choose 3 random letters from my 10 letter memorable word. If my account was hacked I know that lloyds would refund me. Security is their issue not mine. If my BF account was hacked and the shrugged their shoulders and fobbed me off with their T&C I would take them to court. The ensuing bad publicity I would create would harm then considerably, if your money isn't safe the whats the point?

I am considering withdrawing all my money daily and then putting it back as required. I am sure this cost to BF would mean they ban me sooner rather than later.

When you consider the changes there have been in online security since BF was established it is pretty poor that nothing has changed really in their security or at least non that I am aware of.

I agree something needs to be done as there seems to be a lot more instances these days of people having their balances cleared out - you would think this would be at the top of BF's list as a loss of customer confidence in a business can be crippling but they seem to not really be bothered and just say we are covered by the T&C's rather than actually doing anything about it which is very odd.

They really do need to have a change in their customer relations and start taking them serious as their disregard is quite worrying.

Forgot to say in the last Forum Q&A there was a fair few questions about security and I thought BF said they were looking at improving things so fingers crossed they do.

Maybe we should lobby harder. It was just one of a number of things I raised.

Has my backing - can't see anyone bar the thieves not wanting improved security tbh.

What about getting backing from other software vendors? I have seen this issue discussed on other forums so clearly something that worries more than just BA users.

Why stop at software providers? All BF users are at risk. Perhaps the BF forum may be fruitful?

What about an online petition?

These guys seem to do them for free:

http://www.petitiononline.com/

Could send it out in a newsletter to all subscribers and get the other vendors to do likewise. The vendors could get together for the wording of the petition?

Who knows this could be the start of the 'Traders Voice Union' :o
