These lists always highlight what a massively underachieving football club Newcastle United are

It's incredible to think they haven't won a major domestic honour for 50 years

Yet they still sack top quality managers who deliver at least as much success as could realistically be expected!

I was very happy to see Benfica's performance.

The president really made a good job by increasing income from marketing and general sales.

We should invest on getting more money from tv rights, and let's hope we manage to keep the largest club in the world status by winning more and more titles. ;)

I've recently developed a soft spot for Benfica after discovering this tribute song to the club (the live audio is poor here but you get the idea)

I'm very happy to know that.

I don't want to go too OT, but I have to underline Benfica is a rare phenomena in the world of sports.

Benfica has more supporters than Portugal has citizens which is pretty impressive.

Regularly it's said players are like mercenaries, but watch this:

Rui Costa had just been transfered from Benfica to Fiorentina and as a part of the deal, Fiorentina were to play at Lisbon.

I'll take the time to translate his words:

"It was eleven years ago.

The stadium was full to see the team presentation and for the first time of my life I was to play against Benfica. There was little time to the match end, when after a cross into the penalty area Batistuta passed me the ball. Going through my friends Hélder and Dimas, when Preud'Homme came out I scored.

It was the worst goal of my life."

You can see him crying on the field and I remember all Benfica players supported him.

Lol that reminds me of a recent incident involving an Italian player, Fabrizio Miccoli, who scored a brilliant free kick for Palermo against the team he supported as a kid, Lecce, just before half time. He immediately burst into tears and wouldn't come out for the second half! Nice to see there's some loyalty left in the game

Oh, please don't laugh, I will feel offended :x

Miccoli also played for us and we all miss him there was mutual will for him to stay, but he had a tricky contract situation with Juventus, it's a small world :)

I just hope you are not a Liverpool fan:
