Guys,

need some advice regarding my current setup, this wil help me greatly in deciding if I either have a fault with my broadband or my pc is not powerful enough.

I have a brand new laptop and 3g dongle for my backup and run betangel on connection mode 0 on this for emergencies.

However on my main pc I have the latest beta release of BA running on mode 13 and over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that its really sluggish. in particular the ladder, I have the 3 ladder setup always.

on the main settings its running at the fastest refresh rate and yet the ladder is sticky and jumpy with sometimes 2 second pauses, which is no good and really starting to annoy me, I know ever time BA has been evolving and would probably start to use more resources on my pc, but I only got it last year and though it was more than ample

My setup is with win7

CiT 4670 Acrylic Midi Case w/ Card Reader&1394 450W
6801 Asrock N68C-S S/V/L M-ATX AM3 200
7075 AMD Athlon 2 X4 640 3.0GHz AM3 Retail
7968 KINGSTON 4GB(2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Memory
3994 SEAGATE 500GB ST3500418AS 16MB
4820 LITEON 24X SATA DVDRW OPTICAL DRIVE
8037 EZCool PS-05 550W 12CM Psu, SLI Ready

Is it worth buying more memory or could I have faulty memory, at first I could solve this issue by making sure that nothing but betangel was running and now its still doing this even with just betangel?

Any advice greatly appreciated, its so bad today i cant even use it, ps I always have my windows set to run for optimum performance by default so it actually looks like an old version of windows!

Also I done a broadband speed test, I am on VM 20mb and getting pretty near this is download speeds.

Like I say any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

the first port of call in looking at sluggishness issues is your internet connection.

Betangel is only as fast as your internet connection. Run some tests and see what response times you are getting.

If that is fine make sure you don;t have virus cheker analysing everybit of data coming in and out of your pc or running automatic scans when you tuen your pc on.

I'm not sure whether betangel still have the broadband testing software they used to let you use. If they do try that.

Thanks Jim,

If anyone from support reading, can they comment on this software Jim is reffering to?

Also placed a call to VM and they are coming out tommorrow morning to replace my modem and will work on the box outside to reduce the ampage of the signal/feed coming to my house, the guy on the phone reckoned it could be too high and hence is causing the problem.

Very helpful and fast at responding they were!

Just another day off trading though which is a bummer
