I just found andyfuller saying ''are less than 100 people making a living from trading them pre race''.
Same thing say Adam Heathcote .

Knowing that for a fact that only 100 people can actually make a living from this, what chance a newbie/begginer/or '' some profits lately level '' has to make a living from trading pre race ? Like 1/1.0000.000 ? And what will edventually happent to the rest, trying with all their powers to make some decent trades and finally fail , bank wiped and quit . So 99.99% of ''traders'' are replaceable traders that come and go ,only 0.01 % remain (or let's say + 0.9% that would be the occasional successful traders) .

I ask this to realise what are my (or other begginer) actually chances to trade pre race . I know my posibilitys , I'm a fast learner but I cannot overcomit myself to jump in to a pool full of sharks trying to get the ''lifebuoy'' on and on .
For me chances are much lower because I live in Europe ,so no ATR or any live pics but ocasionally when betfair give it ,so I can't see any horse play up to identify a possible price reaction + api server delay.

ps. Infact lately I get nice results with my small stakes, but how long and what will really happent when I will increase my stakes to 100,300,500 ...

The food chain and all that. It's a matter of finding out your position in all of this.

I would be astonished if less than a hundred people are making a living from trading horses pre race. But then I have no idea how many are doing that - and neither does Andy, Adam or anyone else outside of the Betfair organisation.
I don't believe Betfair would have introduced the premium charge unless there were quite a lot of successful traders. Wouldn't have been worth the bad PR otherwise.
It's been my main 'job' for many years now. I'll never make 300 grand a year, but as Adam himself says if they apply themselves properly, virtually anyone can learn to make between £100-£200 a day. In my world, that counts as a very good living .

Lately it is ,but not all the races as I know . And last year was worst. I hope this year will offer more coverage but its very stressful not to be able to see when horses are 'playing' up .Also when race is delayed ,I may exit 10 seconds before off with a red figure while everyone else can stay in acting accordingly.

I'd say that 100 sounds about right.

You have to realise that a few players take a high proportion of the available profits. Newbie traders will always be contributing to those profits with their losses.

People often say that the Premier League is 3 or 4 leagues within a league, and I suspect the same is true about pre-race trading.

If it makes you feel any better that good results are achievable outside the UK I have been trading from Mexico for many years now.

I don’t trade full time because my other job gives me full control over my hours so I can have the best of both worlds but I do trade quite often and quite successfully.

As a result of trading from Mexico I have never traded UK horse racing while watching ATR or any other pictures. Sometimes I listen to the TimeForm radio just to be aware of the scheduling and also this forum can be very useful when a track is delayed.

I can usually notice when a horse is playing up by looking at all my BA indicators.
I do use the VPS so this helps overcome any response time problems.

I guess it all comes down to trading style and what works for you. It does take a lot of time and discipline to make steady profits and it is best to start small and work your way up gradually.

I just wanted to give you a reply so you know there is hope for us traders outside the UK and even outside of Europe.

Why don't you put up a dish and find a way to subscribe to sky?

Betfair coverage works fine for me.

Sky have no coverage here , I check it . I try it ATR subscription on web but they don't accept Europe. One way would be some internet share with someone that already have SKY , I dont know exactly how , anyone know ?

Check satellite magazines in your local country, in most countries specialist companies will hook you up with sky, though you have to pay more than those in the UK

I live in Hungary and subscribe to ATR. I use software to tell the server my "true" location and so get the video feed. BBC IPlayer too. It's great for privacy issues too.
