£61 matched at 1000.0 on Italian Tom, who won the 21:00 at Kempton!

20 minutes after the race I am still waiting to be paid...any news?
You can view the race here: http://horses.sportinglife.com/Video/Racing/
To my untrained eye, Italian Tom was always towards the front, and never looked like a 999-1 shot!

You know, I often wonder whether these races at thrown...I dont know what the wages are for an average jockey, but it would be so easy to throw a race (or would it???)
Fallon is appealing - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/horse_r ... 076920.stm
Is there a plausible explanation of why Fallon dropped his hands, other than the fact that he was easing up?

Anyone who watched the race care to inform us that don't have pics what happened here.
Over 22,000 matched at 1.01 and didn't win!

If you try this link later on today, I think you'll be able to watch the video:

It's the 15:50 at Leicester, if anyone's interested in having a look.

Just saw the race.... not what I expected.
I thought the horse must have slipped in the mud to get this amount of money matched at these odds.
Although it looked like the fav was going to win it was never in the bag.

Question for the in-play traders -
Does the market often massively misprice horses in a way that should be 'spottable' by someone who's not an expert in reading races?
For example, do horses often go heavily odds-on when it's clear that there are other horses with an equally good chance of winning?

Another race where the winner was bet on at 1000.0: http://www.attheraces.com/card.aspx?rac ... =racecards
In fairness to the layers, Ivanov looked totally out of it coming into the final 5 furlongs. But he'd been towards the rear throughout the race, so maybe they should have reasoned that the jockey might have been conserving the horse's energy for a strong final burst.
I noticed a few races today where the winner was matched at 3 figure odds. I bet in-play betting is a gold mine if you know how to read what's happening!

Hi Marc
Sometimes the market gets it spectacularly wrong. However, blindly backing in-play at very high prices would be gambling IMHO, as the vast majority of the time the market will get it right.
And I wouldn't try beating the market when watching a race on TV. Firstly, you're up against guys who have been watching horse races for years, and can read a race like a book. A guy called Mr Wong even knows the location of the TV camera angles at every track (http://elitebet.blogspot.com/)! And secondly, you're up against guys on course who see what's happening before you do (there's a delay of a second or two when you're watching races on TV at home).
