I wonder if anyone has a better memory than me.

This horses name is on the tip of my tongue but searching through the racingpost website hasn't helped me so far and now it's just really annoying me.

I remember watching a british horse race about 20 years ago. The reason I remember is that it was the first time I saw how influential Pricewise (the 1st guy, Mark Coton) was.

The horse was a handicapper (usually racing over 8f-10f I think) - I'd imagine the horse was rated around 90-100 at it's peak: it may have run in some listed races at times as well but basically was a good handicapper.

The horse was owned by Jeff Smith (or at least raced in similar colours to his) and possibly trained by David Elsworth or Ian Balding.

But the thing I remember most was that it was backed in from a morning price of around 16-14/1 into 9/4 favourite at the off. This race wasn't a 'big race' probably one of those many 18 runner Newmarket handicaps during the summer months.

I also remember the horse suffered from interference in running and was a fast finishing nose behind the winner (ridden by Ray Cochrane maybe?).

My memory tells me the horses name begins with a "P" and was a (dark) grey - but 20 years ago memory could have invented that. This horse would have run in most of the big festival handicaps of the time: Goodwood/Ascot etc.

Can anyone remember this horse ?
