Hi, I am just trying to understand trading with betangel and am confused by the idea of backing and laying with the same stake. If I back at £2 and lay at £2 how do I make a profit if the selection loses?

Welcome George
If you back and lay the same stake on the same selection then as you correctly stated you only win if that selection wins. The easiest thing is to green up after you have finished your trading.
Look at the one click screen and ensure there is a check mark in the "greening" box. You then click in that column adjacent your selection and the software will green up to ensure a profit win or lose on your traded selection.
Hope that helps

Well thats what I thought, I place a back bet on the ladder, then at a lower price i place a lay bet, the ladder shows what should be the resultant greened up profit but all that is happening when I look at my bf betting history is the back bet loses and the stake for the lay bet is the same as the back bet stake and so I show no profit, and all this with the greening box ticked. Is there a setting which I have disturbed or have not set properly? Please advise. Many thanks.

George
have a look at the screen shot
This is where you ensure a check mark is when using the ladder

I have done that but still to no effect. When I look in matched bets there is a £2 back bet and a £2 lay bet. This is now very frustrating because the only time I make money is if the selection wins, if it loses then the £2 back bet cancels the £2 lay bet. Pleae help. Many thanks

Okay so from that shot it shows you have the greening option checked and the profit is shown on the ladder. However it appears you have not yet greened the amount.
On the left hand profit column of the ladder you can see some varying amounts. You need to click the amount closest to the current price and that will green the amount of £0.40 you currently have on 6.Windy Maria. You can see that you only collect the £0.40 if that horse wins. if you have only traded the one horse then you can click on the green square adjacent the name of the horse and that will green the amount for you.
If you have traded more than one horse then I suggest you go to the tab for the one click screen put a check mark in greening and then click the column below the check mark, adjacent one of the horses. This will also green up for you.
