Greening strategies
Without exception, all the videos and articles I’ve read on trading there has always been a tendency to green up and give an equal guaranteed return regardless of the outcome. Has anyone given any thought to greening strategies? I must admit to not having spent any time getting any stats yet but purely to make the trading more fun I’ve generally lumped all onto one runner and left the rest at zero liability/win. This gives the excitement of gambling as you have an interest in the outcome and will be rooting for a given runner but the enjoyment of trading and trying to remove liability. But as far as strategy goes, I’m sure that there should be a bit more thought put into this beyond that of assuming the probability of each outcome is directly reflected in the price – which is your assumption when greening an equal return across the board.

Steev, purely from a personal approach, I know that I am better served in greening or redding out as a buffer against the commission take. Longterm I am better served in taking a series of smaller wins as a against larger singular wins.

Firstly I'd like to say hi to the forum members as this is my first post.
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on the following.
Thanks in advance.
I am wondering if it is possible, preferably automated, to trade a profit on a selection then green up and equalise the profit but only on certain horses or events.
eg. 10 horses in a race , I want to have an equal (or if possible offset) profit across first 3 horses and greened (zero) across rest of the field...
------------------------------------------
2nd challenge is probably more of a feature request but also a continuation of the previous scenario. At the moment Bet Angel allows me two options for automated greening up... 1. All profit on selection traded with zero on all other selections or, 2. Equalised green up across all selections. It would be useful to have a 3rd option which could possibly be via a slider or entering a percentage to offset the profit weighting it for example, 40% on traded selection and 60% shared across the rest of the field or possibly you could have an additional numerical box beside the greenup values with which you could enter a percentage value...

Russ

I've had some thoughts along the same lines, greening up on only certain runners and leaving zero on the others.
I think there are two ways to achieve this in BetAngel: hedge up as normal then use the 'bookmaker' tab to lay the horses you don't want to have any green on for the appropriate amounts. Or do the opposite, hedge then use the 'dutching' tab to back the runners you want to have greening on.
The problem I can see is that on a busy day (3 or more meetings in an afternoon) is that this process would take away time that might be better spent looking at the next market.
