Well Redcar is being plagued again by a big backer and today it is £10K that keeps appearing and disappearing. There is a fair amount of money going through the market but it I wonder if it is just traders pushing the price around. We'll have to see how it progresses.

Off to my worse ever start, time for a break and try and get back in front later. The timings are not going to make things at all easy though

I was going to see how the day started and then decide how I would spend my day. I made a decent profit on two cards then I was mullered AGAIN at Redcar which left me about even. I then did okay at Ascot for their first race but that was when the real drift came on Maybe out to 4.0 from 3.55 for me. It is very messy and as we've been invited out I think we'll accept it.andyfuller wrote:Off to my worse ever start, time for a break and try and get back in front later. I'll come back later for the late afternoon/evening cards and see what they look like.
I honestly don't think there is any "real" money in the markets away from Ascot. The big layers and bookmakers have great opportunities to match large sums there. You can't blame them for that and the guy from Ladbrokes even said they were taking money out of the exchanges. I think that is why we are getting such erratic markets elsewhere.

He was talking about the money coming for certain horses and how they had no choice but to take money out of the exchanges. He gave no specifics but he did refer to favourites today especially the AP O'Brien runners.hgodden wrote:Thats interesting, what did he say exactly?JollyGreen wrote: the guy from Ladbrokes even said they were taking money out of the exchanges. I've got the day under control. If I get off to a dodgy start I just go defensive and try not to make any mistakes. Preferring to go for any +ve rather than a decent trade. Picked up a decent result on the 2nd at Ascot so hopefully can build out from here.
Not sure that bookmakers uses Betfair. I was told the bookies got into a dispute with Betfair and switched to Betdaq.

Why a 15min gap now between Ayr and Newmarket (with Down Royal clashing with Newmarket)? Then only 5 mins between Newmarket and Ascot

That perhaps ties in with 2 large orders placed on the back side for 20k+ on betdaq for the last race at ascot.Euler wrote:Not sure that bookmakers uses Betfair. I was told the bookies got into a dispute with Betfair and switched to Betdaq.
Incidentally, I am finding the traditional scalping races on betdaq excellent, but the volatile markets are very hard IMO. I traded the odds on fav on the previous Ascot race on betfair and had a good result by my standards, but tried the betdaq market at the same time and threw half of my betfair profit away!
