I just logged in BA via mode 1 (i.e. connected straight through the website) and notice that its very slow and sticky compared to any API mode. Its also slower than if I manually refresh via the betfair website. I noticed the same thing on saturday when the API was down so it can't be an isolated incident.

I can't figure out why would this be the case? Does anyone normally use mode 1?

mode 1 disappeared as a good connection {better response times} a year or so ago. It used to be faster than 0. Now I keep mode 1 as a back up only. Sometimes use 9, but as a rule 0. Btw I think more money comes trough API then web.

I used to use mode 1. It ceased to be any good when they did the 2nd upgrade for the XM bot that covered in play horse racing. (about the same time they switched to Dublin). I have tried it but it as you say, so not really viable unless it's an emergency.

Mode 1 simply takes your activity and replicates it as though you are using the web site. So if you see a change in behaviour its likely to be something Betfair have done to the web site. Some time ago there was a difference between the website and the API but in order to address this they started slowing down updates on the website.

Hi

I have always used mode 1 (Non API) and have always found it OK?
The reason I use non API is because sometimes I may not be in front of my system when betfair fails and Non API is more resilient? (There have been instances when others have not been able to place bets and I have on Mode 1

The above posts are making me think now...

Looking at the BA User guide the modes are detailed as:-

Mode Result
Mode 0: Default configuration
Mode 1: Non API mode
Mode 3: Hybrid mode one
Mode 5: Hybrid mode two
Mode 7: Full API mode
Mode 9: Hybrid mode three
Mode 13: Hybrid mode four

Are any of Modes 0,3, 5, 7, 9 or 13 Non API?? (and likely to be faster than Mode 1?)

Thanks
Peter
