What has this country come to?
Are we worried that if we use water cannon, tear gas and rubber bullets on rioters, we might be breaching their human rights?!?

It's so annoying hearing the cr@p talked about relations between the police and "the community" on the TV.
I'm pretty sure that relations with the non-criminal elements are just fine, and I strongly suspect that relations with the criminal elements are not so good.
Criminals don't like the police because they stop them doing the things they want to do and occasionally lock them up for it.
"The community" is made up of good and bad, it's just that in some areas the proportion of bad is higher than in other areas.

Quite.
And if our PCs stopped worrying so much about being PC, and instead focused on reducing crime, it might help relations with the community.
There is something wrong with a justice system where it costs more per year to put someone in prison than in a 4 star hotel, and where a police officer can spend 8 hours filling out paperwork after arresting someone for stealing a Mars bar...

I agree - and the thugs know it!Euler wrote:They dare not push a protester now what ever the reason!
Would be rioters should be frightened of a confrontation with the police, rather than see them as a minor inconvenience!
I don't know who anger me more - the rioters, or the namby pamby PC brigade who are obsessed with defending the human rights of thugs and terrorists...

It's getting a bit close to me now! I can here the sirens, I'll be able to see the smoke soon!
Sounds scary! I hope the police manage to contain the violence, and it doesn't reach where you are.
I hope our great leader is enjoying his holiday. If we had a half decent opposition, I'd vote to give him a permanent holiday at the next election...

Things do look pretty grim...Euler wrote:Markets crashing, riots on the street all we need now are three horesmen and the mood will be complete.

The Dow was at 12,750 just a couple of weeks ago; right now, it's under 11,000. In percentage terms, that's frightening...
I've just heard on the news that violence has broken out in Birmingham.
