How do they work?

two things I can't understand:
1) the "In-Play" does not appear so one doesn't know whether the race has started. It could be that they are always sharp on time and so the problem does not exist. But is it so?
2) WHO WON? I don't see the odds rising high or falling to near 1.01, so, all of a sudden, the race gets suspended and I really can't understand who won.... is the horse/hound with the lowest odds?

I can see huge markets there but I can't do a damn thing with it..

the vast majority dont turn inplay. same as the dogs i believe.
check on betfair to see what markets are inplay markets if you wish to trade inplay.
