Collaboration?

I got into betting in 2003.

I did a LOT of research, collected and analysed a lot of stats and developed a lot of systems - most of which weren't consistent enough to be of much use.

Finally, in 2009, a group of us developed some ideas which, in theory, ought to have worked. After a few false starts, they did.

I now have a system which has been producing a steady profit for over 18 months. During that time, I made the odd minor improvement but nothing major. Given that I've now run out of ideas, I have been forced to stop developing it and now just let it run.

Because a) I'm now bored & b) am a belt and braces kind of a guy, I now feel that the time is right to develop another system - just in case my current system goes pear-shaped. The problem is, I'm fresh out of ideas and need to collaborate with others in order to develop some new ideas and create a few new systems.

If anyone is interested, pleas PM me.

Kindest regards

In my opinion the risk is no longer with the market, but with Betfair themselves. You can develop as many strategies as you like, but Betfair will now take up to 60% of your profits, and potentially more in future. There's also nothing stopping them from just closing your account for "suspicions" of avoiding charges.

Personally it's not a reliable future for me anymore, and it's time to hedge against Betfair themselves and develop income streams outside of them.

Just my opinion.

If its more a system rather than trading the markets wouldnt betdaq be a viable option?

No I'm not the 200k psycho.

I'm bored because I've now stopped working the silly stupid hours that I had to work in order to develop the system.

I don't use Betfair any more because of the 25% rip off.

I've been using Betdaq for a few months now.

The system isn't so much a 'system' as a set of principles which I've used to create a laying system. The selections which are rejected by the laying system form a backing system. I haven't developed a trading system because I wouldn't even know where to start.

I think it depends what you mean by collaboration..

If it is a strategy that is based on two accounts backing and laying in collusion (i.e. one only backing and one only laying), then your playing with fire...
..but there is nothing stopping people collaborating from an ideas point of view.
For example if 3 or 4 people were to get together to define an idea on the football and automating it; although they may then place trades at exactly the same time, they are not in collaboration per se
On my list to do would be to build a "super" spreadsheet that links multiple football markets on the same match and look for arbitrage opps...but if I were to give that to someone else we wouldn't be collaborating?
regards
Peter

PS If anyone has created such a spreadsheet and found it to be a cul de sac (Which is quite often the case!) a nod would be appreciated!

What I'm looking for is to work with a couple of people to come up with a few ideas, discuss them, research them, develop them into a system, collect and analyse data and then, if viable, go live.

Regards
