Well folks most of you that know me will appreciate that I usually look for horses to oppose. Well I am fairly good at it but I pale into insignifance when compared to the great Derek Thompson. Here is a breakdown of his "tips" on C4's Morning line, a full year of data courtesy of Doctor Feelgood on the Betfair forum.

If you need a horse to lay then just oppose anything given by Tommo - he couldn't pick his nose!

It would be interesting to know if, ironically, the ROI is so low partly because Tommo picked the horses concerned, possibly increasing volume of bets placed on those horses.

John Francome's stats look a bit suspicious, assuming he's staking a point per bet. No-one places 3,410 bets at level stakes and comes out with a 75% ROI, unless they're extremely lucky or the world's greatest racing guru!

Hi,

Tommo used to have a tipping slot on Talk Sport, (Mr Ed the talking horse, quite apt really) anyway it's interesting what JG has said as a couple of the shows regular text & e-mailers came up with the same idea. His tips were either so obvious and short priced they were worth opposing or they just would not come in. The contributors would send in comments on how well they were doing laying Tommo's tips. At least he is consistent. :D

When all is said and done, Tommo is a useless tipster; always has been and always will be. I find it amazing that he is allowed to use his position on C4 racing to promote his premium line tipping services when they make such huge losses. Yes, there are plenty of useless premium line tipping services but how many live off the back of a TV programme?

Rant over!
