I have a couple of TVs throughout the house and they have Freeview HD built in. I am sure people with similar TVs will know that occasionally you get a message "new channels are available"
I meant to post this message last week when I updated the channels and was surprised to see RUK on channel 116. I dare say it will not be FREE as Freeview would suggest but I wonder if it will have the clock beaters scrambling for the service?

I think it is going to be similar to how Betfair stream pictures. They will use the MAC address of your equipment to monitor your subscription.

I noticed that channel pop up recently too. Wonder if they link it into your current sub or consider it as a payable extra much like their internet feed is no longer free to subscribers. Might be worth cancelling the sky sub and going freeview/clone route if they're charging.

There's no way they will link your account, I think they are looking to target those people who do not have a satellite feed.
As an aside. IMHO I think RUK is the worst value for money you can get on TV. I know At the Adverts is annoying but the cost is low. There are many channels on Sky but you have to pay an extra £20 per month for RUK...why? These pictures are broadcast anyway so are we paying for the presenters? If we are then it makes it even less value for money as 90% couldn't tip a wheelbarrow and they peddle out the same old drivel time and time again. There are some good presenters on there and they have good knowledge but they're not regular enough for my liking.
Let's face it, we want pictures of the horses running, parading etc and then a commentary. I speak from both a punting and trading POV and this can be done from a booth 90% of the time. Then they can have 1 trackside member for any important interviews. Let's face it both ATR and RUK spend most of their time blowing hot air up each other's **** and it serves no real purpose.
