Sick of debate about safety. Horses die EVERY day; on gallops, on FLAT tracks, over HURDLES. The GN is just another race on another day.
They are breed for our entertainment the same as other animals are breed for us to eat. Are all the Chickens crammed into disgusting conditions for the WHOLE of their sad lives worth any less than a race horse? Are the Pigs bred for food that turn up at butchers shops with their bones smashed (I have saw this personally), and the blood trauma around the injury showing they were alive when the break occurred worth any less? Oh, hold on, that's OK we all turn a blind eye to that don't we.
I ran a squirrel over in my car last week. It made me sad, should I stop using my car? I thought about how I could have avoided his untimely death, I came up with some proposals:
1) Squirrels should wear Hi Viz if they are going to cross the road.
2) Local councils should implement a education program to ensure that all woodland creatures are aware of hazards on the highways.
3) Squirrels should be prosecuted if once they start to cross the road they stop and change direction more than once.
Pathetic!

I think the RSPCA should concentrate on more important things and leave Racing in the very capable hands of the BHA

Scratch the BHA remark - I was taking the piss

Quite agree MG, it was the fault of the greedy owner to run a horse that was clearly showing signs of distress that it didnt want to take part, then the responsibility of the so called W**ky vets. They should be held to account not the BHA or the race
