Hi Everybody

I've had Bet Angel for about one week now. I've been messing around with both practice and live modes (so I've placed a few real trades) and the software does look quite impressive.

Now I've been thinking about how to develop the requisite betting strategy. And, something has come to mind so I'd like to ask for opinions (please be gentle).

I'd pick one of UK race meetings say Brighton. Now I don't know when this happens (I'm assuming early in the day) but as soon as the prices become available
place back bets (offset by one tick) for all runners in all races for the day. I'll call this rule one.

Then, (rule two would be) if any of the laybets get filled place another best price back bet into the market offset by one tick and then repeat.

My thinking of course is that I'll be clipping ticks (at least for some of the runners) all day,

And at this stage I'm thinking that it'd be best to green/red up before the start of each race.

So firstly what do people think of this trading idea? And secondly (if it has any merit) how can it be implemented? That is technically speaking. Would it be
best to use a spreadsheet?

You would lose.
There is too much manipulation early in the day and "gappy" markets.

I'll give an example.
The back side is 4 and the lay side is 6.2
Which end of the range is the correct side? Lets say it is 6.
You back at 4. Your bet will not be taken until it is 6.
Even if you got every other bet matched in the field, this 1runner you wipe out any potential profit and some.

I am very much against 1 strategy fits all. In general they don't work consistently enough. You are better getting involved in last 5 mins before off and profiling races. Example: Backing horses that lead on tracks that favour front runners, everyone knows these horses and they usually shorten in the seconds before the off. I am not advocating this strategy, but giving a pointer as to what you may look to do. Over the years I have heard some real BS "systems" Like backing horse 3 in the 3:00 races on a tuesday.

Good luck

Ok how waiting until one hour from the race start? Then back all runners at best market price.

my advice is to start just by using the ladder if u start small and learn where to enter and exit and just get a real understanding how the markets work, their volitality and liquidity when the money comes and which direction, those things will help u... dont let it go in to play and learn which markets to expliot to your advantage.

mugsgame is right one size doesnt fit all remember it takes time and dont try and do much too soon let yourself grow into it if u know i mean

I really understand now what you mean about the gappy early markets. The 18.15 at Chester today. Her Royal Empress now Back @ 16 and Lay @ 980 with only £591 matched thus far.

So these gaps don't start to close until much closer to the off. Meaning that you can only really trade these markets at that time.

Hhmmm back to the drawing board :D

Keep that drawing board in good order, and make sure you use it a lot. It's the best tool a trader has :D

I have been using Bet Angel since last November and I am still a Newbie thats for sure.

If you are interested in Horse Racing then my advice (for what its worth) is use the ladder and watch as many races trade as you can. Put small stakes orders in if it helps. The more you can watch the more enlightened you will become.

Second. Use the Automation to set up simple rules to test ideas. During summer racing you can churn a lot of races in a short time.

Third. Remember you are in markets with hugely experianced traders as well as numpties.

Fourth. Trading is hard.
