Denmark loses API access

So from today danish customers are no longer allowed to access the Betfair API due to our brilliant goverment and their lack of knowledge about how the real world works.

Tried logging on Betfair via BA this afternoon and got an error message. After I wrote BA to check if they had issues I got told to contact Betfair who replied that it was no longer possible for danes to acces the API because it didn't support "NEMID" (the new brilliant authenticator system Denmark got). Asking if there were a solution on the horizon gave no result so for now we're screwed.

What seems odd to me is that mobile solutions can get around the need for "NEMID" but apparently API access is different...

Time to considder moving I guess

What happens when you log into Betfair via the website?

When I logon I get the "NemID" popup like we've had since march - enter my user and pass there and then the 6 digit key

OK, so as long as you have an ID you can log in and use Betfair?

A VPS doesn't solve the problem - as long as the account is from denmark it'll require the NemID login nomatter where I log in from. Its different than what other countries are experiencing with Betfair not being accessable from within. I can still log on to the Betfair website and do everything there (besides horses and dogs) but I'm just not allowed to do it via the API - thats why its so very very stupid.

that is a ridiculous situation - what is the govt.'s reasoning for this?

There's been no comment from anyone including Betfair about this - the first we learned about it was when our software didn't work today. Myself and quite a few others have mailed the goverment to get an explanation and we're trying to get a hold of Peter Weinreich the danish area manager of Betfair to see if they can somehow do something that haven't allready been done.

Update: Betfair is reversing the API block from tomorrow so API software will work while they figure out a solution to this problem.

I think pressure from a number of quarters got them to reverse their decision. I can't really see the logic on how you can enter the ID on the web site but then fail the API connection.
