Just a quick warning about the practice mode. Although I’ve been a member of Betfair from almost the day it started, i’ve never actually tried serious trading the last few mins of a race before. Last month I used the practice mode to try trading the last 5 mins of horse racing. I was in there for 3 or 4 days a week for about 3 weeks. My idea was to start dabbling at the beginning of Sept. I knew I was pushing my luck using it so much but thought I had got away with it. Then on the 30th tried to sign in to Betfair only to get the message, This account has been closed. I then had to spend the next hour writing a grovelling E-mail to Betfair pleading my case. (No good calling the help desk as they say, it’s out of their hand). I received an E-mail from them the next day reading me the riot act but did have my account reopened. So just a warning to reinforce what Angel says, use it sparingly.

Practice mode should be used for a quick refernce of a trade. Maybe if you had loaded a fair bit of money in the account BF wouldnt of closed it. Also did you check the settings on your software, the number of calls to BF using up data, this is what you probablly over used. I find when you scalp for one tick profits and your not set up right you get charged.
This is why i prefer swing trading, follow the long wave then jump off, it uses two clicks entry and exit

So what was the issue for closing it? I'm pretty new to Bet Angel (Not Betfair though) So interested to learn what reason they closed the account for future reference.

I'm pretty much sure if you search the newbie threads it's happened to someone else using practice mode on an empty account, i think the reason they gave was the account was showing signs of commercial activity, in other words sucking data from betfair without paying them any money.

I've never had a problem i've had automation placing 2 bets on every greyhound race everyday for about 5 months , but i've also been using my account live and paying lots of commission so i guess thats why i've been ok.

i guess if you turned up to play squash every day with no racket and ball and said you just wanted to practice they'd soon tell you to pay for the court or do one. :D

To answer a couple of your questions, there was plenty money in my account and I wasnt scalping 1 or 2 ticks, and my settings are fine although i did have guardian stuffed with races. But your right about placing real bets. just had a look and there was a 5 week gap of not placing any bets. as for the reason given, there was no eplanation and aparently they never do give one.
Chris.
