Hi,

I have been reading through the forums to get some tips on pre-race trading. A big thanks to the experienced members for posting tips, and in particular to mugsgame for his post on race selection for those starting out.

I have read the posts about the behaviour of the Betfair markets in recent months and wondered whether it would be best for someone starting out to use Betdaq instead of Betfair?

Thanks,

James

Swings and roundabouts i would say, Betdaq closely follows betfair price movements, but obviously has lower liquidity, sometimes you can get matched at a better price than on Betfair because of this , but other times you miss out on a price move alltogther because you carn't get matched at all.

I finally got around to trying out BetDaq.

I would have thought that BetDaq was growing, but instead what I found was very very disappointing. Liquidity is very poor. Was trying the UK horse racing last week and found essentially no money there except for Listed races.

Couldn't use it for trading except for the listed races. (If you tried offering prices you just won't get matched because no money is around).

I can use for straight punting or when I want to take a price.

Not sure what happened to the 'Keep In-Play' option. Apparently not there any more. No 'Take SP' either.

Traders need liquidity, especially full-time traders. This is the tragic aspect of Premium Charge, BF know they have traders by the short and curlies, and most will stay even with a 20-60% charge.

It's a measure of the contempt with how BF view BD, they just don't see them as being serious competition.
