I've noticed since about the middle of the year that vicious spikes have started to become more common in some of the weaker markets.

So when I see panic set in I've started backing at high odds at the end of this range. There seems to be a lot of value in doing this. The deviation from mean appears to be purely down to traders in a panic to get out and very little to do with the horses chances.

See today, this is the winner from an earlier market.

i don't think you can call it a range, but i agree with opposing panic as a strategy.

I laid the favorite on that 1 ( Pearl noir at 2,9).. :D :D
I found 8 tips in favour of small fury and only one in Pearl noir favour. Also the horse form was known to be better of pearl noir....
I always been told that manipulation can't effect the market but if panic from traders can spike the price much away from the horse real chance, is this means that manipulation can do excactly the same and misslead the punters? Could that be actually a massive manipulation of the market rather then panic from traders or both?
Since monday I have witnessed big money trying to push some horses price high on good form horses either...So if this keep going on, it means, if we payed more attention to the markets we may benifit from it as much as the mad bomber but in the opposite direction...Insted of wait the change of the market we can also just follow the trend and take 5-10 ticks or do both if we manage to became geniuses.. ;)

This year I have been experimenting with dutching as well as it's quite easy to get in a 100% book for, theoretically, no loss and still cover quite a few runners. I think both are the upshot of irrational market activity.
