Steamers in Recent Weeks

Hi,

I have collected and analysed the pre-race data for the favourites in several hundred races this flat season and had come up with a decent strategy using various criteria.

The strategy involves laying as the opning position and catching large drifts. In the last couple of weeks it seems that someone has flipped a switch and turned things on their head. The qualifiers are now steaming rather than drifting.

Could that be just a statistical blip or is it the case that there are more steamers generally at this time of year?
