So I setup a horse race scalping rule for automation and tested it out on the UK races yesterday.
Unfortunately it didn't go so good.
One of the problems was that sometimes the rule didn't seem to hedge the bets at race start time. The video suggested 3 in 15 seconds, I changed this to 10 attempts in 20 seconds to make sure it hedged, but I guess there were still times where the market drifted and it couldn't hedge at the price it wanted.
It meant that there were times where I had huge liability on many of the runners. Of course, I then tried to manually rectify that and usually compounded the problem.
It seems to me that it would be better to just offset with greening to lock in that profit while its there rather than wait until the off where you risk the market moving the wrong way?
Also there were times when I saw there were two bets placed and I can't figure out why. I added a condition that the number of unmatched bets must equal zero before a a new bet is placed, but I don't think that's foolproof.
Does anyone provide a basic scalping rule template for beginners? I would like something that is not going to "screw" up and I can 100% trust to run unmanned. Is there a rule library anywhere?
Scalping help
There is no automated scalping rule that you can trust and leave unattended. (And if someone had found one they would keep it to themselves.) Scalping only works well when the market conditions are exactly right,e.g. you need a flat, not trending, market. If you attempt to apply a blanket scalping rule to all markets you will lose money.
The advanced automation facility in Bet Angel is not totally reliable as you have already discovered (I had the same problem with multiple bets and a few others besides).
You may be better off looking into Excel automation.

I run a scalping automation and it greens or reds out every time. So not sure what you are doing but you must have some setting wrong?
If you scalp on racing get it to switch market, if you don't do this it will have to cycle to the market and will almost certainly miss the 10 second window to green up.
