Does anyone trade both BF and BD exchanges and use them both at the same time in play?

Ive had both exchanges open next to each other tonight and there looks like some real good chances at times INPLAY.

I understand for premium payers the arbing would not be possible due to PC on betfair if the bet won, but for others there could be some small opportunities if your willing to risk lays in play and be quick to hedge it off in BF.

It seem to hang behind very slightly at times on BD so some people may find a little edge in that. Its not something Im going to do but I did manage to get 7 quid laid that was available at 7s on BD tonight as BF had already skipped out to 40s and I could have easily laid off over at BF immediately if i had wished to do so but i had no idea how much to trade out with as i was on two exchanges!

Like I said, Ive only been messing around last night and tonight so maybe its not the norm, so tread carefully if you look out for any of these arbs.

I'll often monitor both exchanges. I did a bit of arbing across both some time ago, but not seriously. There can often be some discrepancies between the two.

Before the off if somebody is manipulating a price on Betfair you will often see the 'true' value appear on Betdaq. Not always but worth looking at, both can be quite interesting.

Thats the beauty of what im saying. If they are manipulating the price preoff on a 3m for example, they are probably going to keep doing it inplay for a while as they know the risk is limited for a few miles (give or take a jump). They leave themselves open however if they are for example holding a price down on one exchange for someone to sell out, whilst the real price goes the other direction on the other exchange which can happen quickly. Since i first posted the market seems to have tightened on these arbs but Ill still worth keeping an eye out for it as ive noticed a few prerace as well.

Yes there are many small arbs available between the exchanges especially in-play.

But it's how you deal with things when they go wrong that will determine if you can make any money from it.

Seeing something on a screen means very very little,
it's the getting matched part at the odds required that counts and very often you won't leaving you badly exposed.

I agree freddy, my advice would be to make sure that the first bet is always taken on BD and not offered when the arb already exists. Like you say though, need to tread carefully.

Dog barking at postman syndrome.

Why do all dogs bark at postmen ?

They bark because a stranger is appoaching their territory and when they bark they leave again.

And they then associate their barking with postman moving on

Just like poor dumb dog you are making a bad sciecne assoication - An easy trap to fall into

Bad science association I dont understand? if I can lay 7 pounds at 7s on one exchange and see that at the same time I can back the same thing at 40s from money available else where on another exchange....

Anyway, I put my advice out there and if its useful to one person then good luck to them. I for one wont be spending to much time on betdaq as it seems to work on the back of bf odds which doesnt offer much opportunity for me unless I want to go inplay, which is all Im saying.

Hi Steven,
I'm just having a look at arbing between BF and BD. It's interesting - I gathered stats for a while and didn't see any Arbs before the race goes in-play. The odds between BD and BF are uncannily similar
:-)
I'm now tightening up the selection criteria on my bot for in-play (e.g. how many seconds between the BD and BF updates). It seems that if the gap is more than about 2 seconds between the updates on both exchanges, then the percentage of times you get both the Lay and Back, falls off a cliff.

I guess it's understandable that the arbs mostly come up as the odds are changing more rapidly. To misquote Harold Wilson - 2 seconds is a long time in arb'ing

:-)

Regards

Ian
