Nigel Adkins sacked! Replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.

He was doing a great job though, surely? Two successive promotions and 3 points clear of the relegation zone in the first year back in the premiership! What more could have been expected?!

For me, decisions like this simply take away the enjoyment of following football

It's beyond disgusting, and as a Saints fan part of me would be happy to see us go down, because Cortese doesn't deserve to be in the PL

My stats indicate that this will have a negative effect on Southamptons immediate performance.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rule come in to place where no promoted team can sack their manager in the first season. The chances are the majority of promoted teams unless a complete overhaul of the playing squad has been carried out, will struggle regardless of who the manager is.

You got to feel sorry for Adkins, I don't think they've been that bad to be honest, and on a good few ocasions have given a good account of themselves, Arsenal, Man Utd at home Chelsea away to name a few.
There is just a real gulf in quality between the top two divisions.

Hope he gets another good Job Soon.

As a Pompey fan living in Southampton, all my mates of red and white stripey persuasion are gob smacked. Had fallen out of love with professional football before the current debacle at Fratton Park and this just proves it's a rotten setup.

like many others it seems, i despair of modern pro football.

people who go to football these days are mugs - paying a collective fortune to a bunch of mercenaries who have next to nothing in common with the supporters.

football used to be an exciting subculture; now it's expensive, dull and debt-ridden (a bit like modern life in general!).

when I heard this news this morning, I wondered what reaction it would illicit from Euler and Le Tiss.

I know there have been some bizarre sackings this season and in the recent past but taking all things into account, I would nominate this as perhaps the most ludicrous since Sunderland sacked Ken Knighton in 1981.
