I bet on English Premier League and UEFA Champions League Matches pre-off and in-play from the UK via the API. So markets on the UK exchange server. I'm confused about the Australia exchange server vs the UK vs Australian Wallet bla bla ...

If I go on holiday to Australia can I do the same like I do from the UK without a difference? I expect not to be able to bet in-play (?) but what about those other regulations sometimes mentioned here? Do they only apply to Australian markets such as Tennis Australian Open or Australian football or whatever?

Unfortunately there is a 1.5% turnover charge on back bets in Australia

(...) lay bets should either be less than 20k or placed in less than 50 markets for a given week.
(if '20k' means 20'000 AUS$ this is irrelevant for me)

What about you guys with a betfair account registered in Australia (or New Zealand while we're at it). Can you bet on the European Football markets on the UK exchange server without these charges and limitations or what's going on down there?

Thanks a bunch, especially if you have actually been doing it from AUS. But second hand info is also welcome :)

Hi DaveDangelo,
You can bet from Aus to UK on all UK Horse Racing (pre, and in-play).
You can bet on Tennis and Footy pre-off. However to bet on these sports in-play you will need access to the VPS otherwise the IP address of your computer in Aus will automatically prevent you from placing a bet.

The turnover charge has nothing to do with any of UK markets. Just don't place back bets greater than 2k if betting on Aus horse racing.

That's great news, switesh!
Thanks a lot!

Am I right to assume that to bet on UK markets from Australia I would not have to transfer funds to the 'Australia Wallet'?

That's correct Dave. Australian wallet is to bet on Australian events, not to bet whilst in Australia...

Thanks for that confirmation, bobalski!

New Zealand would be interesting for me too. What about accessing the API from there?

I used it for a month in NZ a couple of years ago without a problem

Seems fine today in NZ, must have been a false alarm which is a relief. Would rather not use VPN as it sometimes drops and is slower
