Hi,
I've noticed that the in later stages of trading a days racing, my performance starts to tail off, that is I make less on trades and/or start to have more losing trades, which has the knock on effect of more losing races and cuts into profits. Although I'm putting it down to either lack of concentration through tiredness, or becoming increasingly more defensive (an ingrained mindset from youth I'm working on changing) I'm curious to know if this phenomenon happens to anybody else,
cheers, P
Fading Performance
This happens to me almost every session. At the moment I can only sustain optimal focus for about 2 hours, used to be about 1 but has increased with practice. I find regular short breaks help but after about 4 hours I tend to stop feeling quite tired.
I reckon this will increase naturally the more experienced I get, not just my optimal focus capacity, but also because many of the good habits I'm trying to introduce take up more energy now as they feel foreign.
As they become natural responses I expect to have more energy available throughout the session.

Think we all suffer from time to time:
First losing day today for some time and what was turning out to be a good day ended up with a small loss.
I should have taken a break around 1430 but ploughed on, this started a downward spiral with me forcing trades etc as I wanted to end the session up. Basically a set of schoolboy errors
can be seen in my P&L - as Motty would say 'a game of two halves'.
Your concentration will improve (with the odd glitch like mine
) with practice. Also continually review what could have affected your performance such as lighting, chair, general set up, food etc. Sounds crazy but I had a cooked lunch today, which is unusual for me, and I am sure this had an impact. Won't do this again in a hurry!
Also, pick and choose your races - races during the week with horses priced at around 5- 6.0 the field are ones (usually) with lower volume and the time I go and switch the kettle on or do something else
