Hello,

I am currently on my trial of bet angel & I cannot help but be impressed with it.

I think that I understand the principles behind trading and I know my way around the automation features in guardian pretty well by now but I seem to be misunderstanding some important point.

This feels like such a newbie question that I am embarrassed to ask it but here we go:

I have watched all of the videos online that show how to do basic scalping on the horses and followed the steps pretty well. What I don't understand is how I can place an offset bet one tick away, get both bets matched and still show as being in the red after that.

Surely, if the horse wins I win & if it loses I break even so why am I not in a position to green out?

The only thing I can think of is that the 'fill or kill' kills off the initial bet when it is only partially matched but then matches the offset bet in its entirety.

That would fit but does that happen?

If that is the case then could I get around it by making the fill or kill longer, maybe increase the batch setting for the offset or just stop using fill or kill?

I would really appreciate an answer from more experienced hands.

So let me ensure I am thinking along the right lines. You set up the "global settings" with a 1 tick offset bet and a fill/kill setting of x seconds. I appreciate the x for fill/kill is unknown hence using x.

You then click on one side of the book and when that order is partially filled? You think this is causing the issue?

Have you checked there is no stop loss included? If you have a an offset with a stop then it could be the stop loss triggering and causing the loss?

It is very hard to give you a precise answer without seeing your settings. Perhaps you could post a screen shot. Try something like http://screencapturer.com/ to grab the area required then I may be able to offer more help.

Aside from the technical questions, one tick scalping aint gonna get you anywhere much.

You'll just end up eating like a sparrow and shitting like an elephant when it goes wrong. Unfortunately...

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I do appreciate it.

Having been watching it this afternoon, I think my error is in misreading the screen rather than misunderstanding how the whole thing works.

The prices by the horses names are not changing, it is the close position buttons are that are changing and that means something completely different.

Sorry for wasting your time people, I did say it was a newbie question.

No such thing as a dumb question and definitely not wasting my time.
