Using Form Lab Black’s player analysis tool we look at a couple of significant players who will be missing this weekend and see what that might mean.
N.B. Appearances mentioned below relate to starting and completing an hour unless otherwise specified.
Everton v Chelsea
Eden Hazard, Midfielder, Chelsea
Hazard has missed seven games for Chelsea and they do not have a great record without him of W3-D1-L3, pushing their loss rate from 12% up to 43%. There are less goals in matches in which he does not feature, with 3/7 having -1.5 goals. They score on average 2.06 GPG when he starts, yet only 1.29 GPG in his absence.
Southampton v West Ham
Andy Carroll, Striker, West Ham
Carroll is set to miss a few games of West Ham, and this may be worrying news. Since last season, West Ham have had a win percentage of 36% when Carroll starts, as opposed to just 24% when he is missing. The Hammers have failed to score in 41% of games that Carroll has missed. They have only won two of the last 13 matches in which he was unavailable.
Nottingham Forest v Barnsley
Martin Cranie, Defender, Barnsley
Cranie has missed 14 games since last season and Barnsley have a poor record when he is not there of W3-D4-L7. The have only won one of the last 9 games that he has missed, and they are 10% less likely to pick up a clean sheet without him.
Getafe v Osasuna
Nino, Forward, Osasuna
Osasuna have lost key man Nino to injury and they will not be pleased. They have lost the last four matches that Nino has missed since the start of last season. In addition, they have a win rate of 41% when he starts, yet this is dramatically reduced to 12% without him. His attacking influence is highlighted by the fact they score 0.5 GPG less when he’s away.
