Moving Averages in Pre-Match Football Trading

Hi everyone one.

Newbie here so please be kind with me.

I want to use moving averages in order to trade pre-match some football matches.

Obviously I am going to use one short term and one long term moving average. My question is what does it mean (is there a signal generated) when the short term crosses the long term one or when the opposite happens?
