Hello everyone. First time posting.

I just recently got into betting/trading horse racing and I have couple of questions.

First one is embarrassing to ask but can someone explain how to read horse racing titles ( what it means). For example what does 2m1f Juv Hrd stand for, because I have no idea.

And second question is about weird in market occurrence I have noticed couple of times. Market goes in play then gets suspended after then again goes in play and again gets suspended and after some of those suspensions in play price is very steady( no usual swings) also when this happens races take way longer to finish than average. What is reason behind this?

Thanks in advance everyone for helping a newb :D

2m1f : This is the distance so 2m and 1 furlong

Juv : Stands for Juvenile

Hrd : Stands for hurdles

I am sure jollygreen will be along to explain it a lot better!

When a race starts it goes "In-play" when it ends it is "Suspended" but if it is a close finish betting is reopened for people to bet on who they think has won.

Sometimes there is a false start so this also causes the market to be put in-play then out of play. I strongly recommend a tv/radio feed if trading.
