The course rating in brackets (G1 G3 etc) should be taken with a slight pinch of salt. You cannot have a Group 1 course as such, it mainly relates to the highest grade of racing you should expect at said course.

Racecourse information
Hey Jolly,
thank you very, very much for giving this information to the forum / to me! This will make some behaviours more predictable, I guess.
Unbelievable, two month ago I thought that horseracing is just a jockey, a horse and a huge pot of luck ...
Best regards,
Chris

Can you elaborate Linus? I am not certain what you mean but if you explain I will try and answer.LinusP wrote:Jolly thanks for this info, out of interest have you ever noticed any patterns regarding which way the course is run?

Okay I understand now. This is a very profitable angle if you know what to look for. I made a post hereLinusP wrote:I mean some courses are run right handed and some left handed, so are there any edges involved in some horses performing better/worse going around left or right.
Horses for Courses
Some horses prefer a certain direction and perform better left or right handed. The form of Standing Ovation clearly showed he did not go so well left handed and the result reflected that.
Some horses need a galloping track, others need a flat track. Imperial Commander was a classic example of a horse who loved a galloping track like Haydock or Cheltenham. Despite this they tried to run him at Aintree and Kempton. I respect his trainer but even he said it was "a myth" that he didn't like these courses. Well I disagreed strongly so I was always a layer at this course. His results were
Ran 3 Won 0
Unseated 1
Pulled Up
Best result 3rd
Kempton saw him run twice where he finished 5th and 6th.
Cheltenham he ran 12 times and won 6 times including a Gold Cup
Haydock he ran twice and won once!
So horses do prefer certain courses and if you can factor this into your trading or betting it will often return positive results. If I spot it then other form students will and that will change the price if enough get involved!
